We the People Constitution Tour Hub

The U.S. Capitol Historical Society spent the better part of the last year collaborating with the Capitol Visitors Center, the White House Historical Association, the National Parks Service and the National Archive developing this free and open-access hub for civics education resources so that teachers around the country can find all of these digital learning resources in one place. Indeed, teachers can use the hub to bring their students on a virtual tour of our Capital City.

The event will feature remarks from Sen. Ben Cardin, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and Rep. Virginia Foxx, as well as a demonstration of the hub and several of its video resources:

  • The We, the People Constitution Tour video series explores the Congress, presidency, and Supreme Court with member and historian interviews.
  • The Discovery Education special The City of U.S. explores the monumental and historic structures of Washington, DC with experts answering questions from children of military families.
  • A virtual play reading of Beautiful Agitators tells the story of Vera Mae Pigee, an unsung heroine of the Civil Rights movement in Mississippi who registered voters at night in her beauty parlor.
